X-ray & DEXA
X-ray Examination
X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation known as photons. They can pass through the body, generate images, and detect lesions on tissues and structures inside the body.
X-rays are effective for diagnosing skeletal and soft tissue diseases. X-ray tests are appropriate for diagnosing bone, lung, and stomach problems. Using contrast media, clinicians can take images of the urinary and digestive systems for examination. Radiation doses in X-ray tests are typically very low, causing minimal harm to the human body.
DEXA Bone Densitometry
Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) Bone Densitometry uses two different X-ray energy levels to measure bone density in the spine and hip. The test is quick and uses very low doses of radiation.
Women after menopause are more prone to bone mass loss and should undergo DEXA screening for early identification of osteoporosis.
