Ultrasound
An ultrasound scan sends high-frequency sound waves into the patient's body. Sound waves can travel beneath the skin, bounce off structures within the body, and return to the device, where they are converted into images of the organs or tissues being examined. Ultrasound scans are thought to be the safest type of medical imaging because they are painless, harmless, and do not require radiation or contrast.
